MOFA Spokesperson’s Commentary on Japan’s Diplomatic Bluebook 2017 (April 25, 2017)

1. The government of the Republic of Korea strongly protests the Japanese government’s repeated inclusion of unjust sovereignty claims over Dokdo, clearly an integral part of the ROK’s territory historically, geographically, and under international law, in its Diplomatic Bluebook issued on April 25. The ROK government urges the Japanese government to immediately withdraw such claims.

2. The Japanese government should immediately stop making futile claims over Dokdo, and bear in mind that a correct perception of history is a starting point and a requirement for the ROK-Japan relations.
