MOFA Spokesperson’s Statement on Japan’s Authorization of High School Textbooks (March 24, 2017)

1. The Government of the Republic of Korea expresses a strong protest over the fact that on March 24, the Japanese government once again approved high school textbooks that contain a distorted perspective of history, including unjustifiable claims to Dokdo, -- clearly an integral part of the ROK territory -- and demands an immediate correction.

2. The Japanese government should be well aware that the biggest victims of its erroneous historical perspective are growing future generations of Japan and should act responsibly in educating its future generations, while squarely facing history.
